Mumbai to get its first Amrit Bharat Express

Mumbai is set to host its first Amrit Bharat Express, a major milestone for India's rail network. The new-generation superfast train will link Saharsa in Bihar with Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla, Mumbai. The train is set to be launched on April 24, 2025, and is part of Indian Railways' efforts to modernize long-distance travel and improve passenger comfort.

Mumbai welcomes its first Amrit Bharat Express

The Amrit Bharat Express has been planned to revolutionize train travel with its cutting-edge features. It is run in a push-pull mode, having locomotives at both ends, which means that reversals are not needed during the course of the journey. This makes the train reach speeds of 130 kmph, cutting travel time considerably. The travel between Saharsa and Mumbai will take around 34 hours, which is less than current services on this route.

The commuters can expect an array of modern facilities, such as ergonomically designed seating, increased luggage racks, charging points for mobile phones, LED lighting, CCTV cameras, and a public information system. The fully vestibule design of the train makes mobility between coaches seamless, thereby making the journey even more comfortable.

Amrit Bharat Express

Made by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the Amrit Bharat Express is a quantum leap in rail technology. It is a non-air-conditioned, low-cost service that seeks to connect cities more than 800 km apart. The launch of the train is set to benefit thousands of commuters between North Bihar and Mumbai, with a faster and more comfortable travel experience.

Initially, the train will operate once a week, with plans to increase frequency as additional rakes become available. This development is part of a broader push by Indian Railways to deploy 200 Amrit Bharat trains nationwide, with 50 currently under construction and 150 more planned.

Amrit Bharat Express

The introduction of Mumbai's inaugural Amrit Bharat Express is not only an engineering feat but also a measure towards enhancing regional connectivity. Through the connection of eastern Bihar with Mumbai, the train will run through major junctions like Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Danapur, Buxar, and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, developing economic as well as cultural relationships between the regions.

As Mumbai prepares to welcome this new age of rail transport, the Amrit Bharat Express is a shining example of India's dedication to innovation and development in the field of transport. It will make long-distance travel more efficient, available, and pleasant for travelers nationwide.
