Vaibhav Suryavanshi: A Star is Born in IPL History

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has never not been a platform for young talent to sparkle, but on April 28, 2025, a 14-year-old genius by the name of Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke all limits of cricketing brilliance. Representing the Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav made it to history books by becoming the youngest cricketer in IPL history to achieve a century, an accomplishment that left fans, players, and experts alike dumbfounded.

Vaibhav's first century was against Gujarat Titans at the historic Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Chasing a daunting 210, the left-hand batsman showed a fearless temperament right from the first ball. He got his account going with a mighty six off Mohammed Siraj, which laid the tone for an innings to be talked about for years to come. His confidence to approach experienced bowlers such as Ishant Sharma and Prasidh Krishna so nonchalantly displayed maturity much ahead of his age.

The youngster attained his half-century within 17 deliveries, scoring 26 off Ishant Sharma off an over alone. However, he did not look back. Vaibhav gathered even more speed, completing his century in merely 35 balls—the second-fastest in the IPL. His scorching knock of 101 runs contained 11 sixes and seven fours, with 94 runs being scored off boundaries. With Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav combined to create a massive 166-run partnership, leading Rajasthan Royals to an eight-wicket win.

Vaibhav's feat is not only a record in IPL but a milestone in the history of cricket. At 14 years and 32 days, he broke records of legends Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant to become the youngest centurion in all men's T20 cricket. For his fearless approach and exceptional shot selection, cricketing legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Ian Bishop hailed him.

Social media went into overdrive with celebrations, as fans were in awe of Vaibhav's incredible talent and drawing parallels with their own teenage years. Businessman Anand Mahindra aptly labeled Vaibhav's innings as "part of cricketing history, not just IPL history."
